Since 1991 Isabel Banal has taken a profound interest in artist's books and publications in the widest sense, from postcards, to objects, to graphic work.

Isabel Banal and the poetics of artists’ books is a literary encounter to discuss the diversity of projects carried out along this line of work throughout her career.

Glòria Picazo will begin the event with an  introduction to the role of artist's books in contemporary art, followed by Isabel Banal presenting her books, which are currently on display at the Biblioteca Pilarin Bayés in Vic.

Isabel Banal. Visual artist and teacher at the Escola Massana. Isabel Banal explores  landscape, nature, and everyday life through common materials and objects. The colour white, miniaturisation,  a representation of rural life, and the nativity scene form central elements of her work, in which attention, silence, and subtlety generate a dialogue between art and life.

Glòria Picazo. Bachelor in Art History. She is an independent critic and curator. She has collaborated with leading museums and art centres and directed the Centre d’Art la Panera (2003–2015). She has taught university courses in contemporary art and curatorship.

Since 1991, Isabel Banal has been very interested in artist books and editions. These include many things, like postcards, objects, and graphic art.

Isabel Banal and the poetics of artist editions is a meeting to talk about the many projects she has made in this area during her career.

Glòria Picazo will start with an introduction about the role of artist books in contemporary art. Then, Isabel Banal will show her editions. These are now on display at the Pilarín Bayés Library in Vic.

About Isabel Banal
She is a visual artist and teacher at Escola Massana. She explores landscape, nature, and daily life using common materials and objects. White color, small size, and rural and nativity scenes are important in her work. She uses attention, silence, and delicacy to create a connection between art and life.

About Glòria Picazo
She has a degree in Art History. She is an independent art critic and curator. She has worked with important museums and art centers. She was director of the Centre d’Art la Panera (2003–2015). She has taught university courses on contemporary art and curating.
