Que recorda la terraWHAT THE EARTH REMEMBERS
Reflections on the exhibition

Thursday 5/2/26  From 6.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m.

A conversation between Cinto Torrents, a member of the Càtedra del Mon Rural de la UVIC and artistIsabel Banal

Free activity, open to the general public. No prior registration is required.

Isabel Banal and Cinto Torrents will tour the exhibition, discussing how the artworks relate to regional collective wisdom. The themes in Banal's artworks, such as slowness, silence, attention to detail, care, and ultimately, knowledge and homage to rural life, will become starting points for a conversation regarding landscape and the respectful relationship which is established with nature.

This meeting represents a sharing of perspectives, an interrogation and an exploration of the dialogue between contemporary art and anthropology.

Isabel Banal. Visual artist and teacher at the Escola Massana. Isabel Banal explores landscape, nature, and everyday life through common materials and objects. The colour white, miniaturisation, a representation of rural life, and the nativity scene constitute central elements of her work, in which attention, silence, and subtlety generate a dialogue between art and life.

Cinto Torrents. Cultural anthropologist and professor at the University of Vic. Cinto Torrents investigates rural culture, heritage, and the transformation of landscape. His career combines ethnographic research, dissemination, and exploration of the everyday knowledge of farmers, focusing on observation, slowness, and the transmission of knowledge which connects the past with contemporary practices.

Reflections on the exhibition

Thursday 5/2/26  From 6.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m.

A talk with Cinto Torrents, a member of the Càtedra del Mon Rural de la UVIC, and artist Isabel Banal.

This is a free activity. Everyone can come. You do not need to sign up before.

Isabel Banal and Cinto Torrents will walk through the exhibition. They will talk about how the artworks connect with local knowledge. The artworks show ideas like slowness, silence, care, and respect for rural life. These ideas will help start a talk about the landscape and how people respect nature.

This meeting is a chance to share ideas. It is also a way to explore how art and anthropology (the study of people and cultures) can talk to each other.
