GUIDED VISITS FOR GROUPS

In Words of Love: An essay on the passions, Núria Güell questions the institutionalised representations and learned cultural mandates around passionate love and its consequences.

Although love is often presented as a pure feeling, in the real world we see it mixed with violence, sacrifice, and contradictions; there are those who kill or die for God, for the motherland, for an idea of revolution, or even for a romantic relationship. This leads us to ask ourselves to what extent culture feeds these previous stories of love and what desires, fears, or ghosts are hidden behind them. Perhaps the problem is not hatred, but an excess of blind love. What effects would the de-idealisation of love have on the social order?, and on ourselves?

In this audiovisual work, Núria Güell invites us to reflect upon these questions.

REFLECTIVE VISIT

To structure visits to this exhibition, we offer various suggestions for adapting the project contents to different groups.

1. HOW MUCH DO YOU LOVE?
Collective reading and debate + open mic.

A collective viewing of Núria Güell's video, will allow participants to delve deeper into her work, laying the foundations for later debate into the meaning and construction of the word love. Are love, passion, and desire the same? What are we willing to do for the things we love?

Immediately after the debate, there will be an open mic session. Participants will express themselves through writing and reciting love poems.

2. SONGS TO LOVE
A collective reading and debate + video clips

A collective viewing of Núria Güell's video, will allow participants to delve deeper into her work, laying the foundations for later debate into the meaning and construction of the word love. Are love, passion, and desire the same? What are we willing to do for the things we love?

After the debate, through music and performance participants will reflect upon the messages transmitted by the songs they listen to. Is it okay to sing and dance purely because we like the music, or, is the message of the song more important?
